About Us
Richard is a professional graphic and exhibition designer who not only dreams up the weird and wonderful; he creates it too! He has been a model maker and artist since the age of 16 and has a passion for inventing puzzles. Richard has a large workshop where you can sometimes hear him beavering away constructing a cryptic device. When he’s not in the workshop, he’s usually designing a new exhibition for the Tank Museum in Bovington.
I have worked with my husband, Richard, for many years as a project manager and financial director, but my biggest passion is historical and crime dramas. Give me the seed of an idea, and within no time, I will weave a most tangled and thrilling plot. Between us both, we have a perfect skill set to create an exciting murder mystery experience.
We both have a keen eye for detail and accuracy, so you’ll find that our newspapers, props and clues are as realistic as possible. Each story and advert in the newspapers are accurate to the period, and the WW2 mystery is based around actual events. We also spent a long time sourcing genuine artefacts and recreating replicas so that when you attend an event, you’ll have a completely authentic and immersive experience.
Amy and Richard are a creative couple focused on bringing you an experience like no other. Mystery, intrigue and investigation are the name of the game and their backgrounds in design and detail-oriented disciplines make for an unforgettable experience.
Being great lovers of escape rooms and crime dramas, we decided to go on a mission to try several murder mystery activities before booking. We discovered that virtually all murder mystery packages rely heavily on actors, and the guests have very few clues to solve. It was a case of waiting for the actors to deliver their lines, which revealed more about their character as the activity went on. It was disappointing as we wanted to be in the thick of it, searching for hidden clues, solving puzzles and having an active role.
With my work in the legal industry, I have an excellent eye for accuracy and detail, and can also weave a tangled plot which is often inspired by actual events. I also think I must have been a detective in a past life, but that’s another matter! My husband is a very skilled graphic designer, themed display and model maker, so between the two of us, we came up with a fabulous 1920s murder mystery. Every guest had a character and had a photograph of themselves Photoshopped into a 1920s person featured on their character sheet. We also created a vintage newspaper with adverts and backstories for all of our guests. These were sent out a month before the event to give a small taste of what was to come.
Two professional actors were brought in without the other guests knowing and mixed in with our other guests. One, having appeared in Sherlock as Benedict Cumberbatch’s mother, became our detective Sheree Holmes. The other, more known in Game of Thrones as a Dothraki, was our shady photographer.
The props were all made and shipped to the venue, and the whole weekend was an incredible success. So much so that our friends insisted that we had to do it again with new plots. And we still do. Each year we have our annual ‘murder’ with the same group and try out new schemes before releasing them.
Each time, we try and come up with something totally different and believe me when I say we set the bar incredibly high. We have themed, vintage props and clues which all set the perfect scene. If you are looking for something alternative, an immersive experience that you can seriously get your teeth into, come and join us for an event that really packs a punch.
